Brown Bag: Linking Morpho-Dynamic and Biological Habitat Conditions on the Middle Rio Grande

Ari Posner, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, will present the project Linking Morpho-Dynamic and Biological Habitat Conditions on the Middle Rio Grande. This project is a collaborative effort by the Colorado State University Engineering Department, the UNM Biology Department, American Southwest Ichthyological Researchers, and the Bureau of Reclamation to further refine understanding of how geomorphologic changes impact habitat availability and to tie those changes to Rio Grande Silvery Minnow biology and population dynamics. While the team is less than half-way through the project, some significant progress was made toward developing novel analyses that combine habitat metrics in both space and time in order to characterize changes at scales of interest.
