The Challenge

Groundwater models are computer codes that simulate the physics of groundwater motion within an aquifer system. USGS scientists needed a way for water managers and the public to visualize complex groundwater models in a more understandable way.

Our Solution

Build a browser-based groundwater model viewer that:

• allows users to easily explore model inputs and outputs;
• supports the MODFLOW family of models, including MODFLOW2005, MODFLOW-NWT, MT3DMS and SEAWAT; and
• allows additional models to be added easily.
