The Challenge

The Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program-Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) is a statewide, comprehensive assessment of groundwater quality. This information can be used in multiple ways, including by local communities to determine whether and what kind of treatment may be needed when groundwater is used for public water-supply systems or for projecting future changes in groundwater quality associated with reduced nutrient applications. USGS California Water Science (CAWSC) needed a web application for users to be able to quickly find information about GAMA-PBP.

Our Solution

To meet the needs of CAWSC, the IHDS team needed to design a system to store the wealth of study information and to allow for quick updates by team members. In addition to designing a content framework and database, the IHDS team

• Redesigned the existing GAMA-PBP website help users find information quickly, including where GAMA-PBP program is sampling now.
• Added an interactive map of study locations across California.
• Built a new gallery of study highlights.
