The Challenge

Flood inundation map libraries at USGS streamgaging stations and NWS Advanced Hydraulic Prediction Service (AHPS) forecast points are built using existing engineering-scale or FEMA base level engineering-scale specifications. The Hydrologic Engineering Center’s (HEC) River Analysis System (RAS) is the primary numerical modeling tool employed to prepare the inundation mapping products. InFRM needed a web application that allows users to view flood-inundation information and allow Federal/State agencies and other stakeholders to submit data.

Our Solution

The IHDS team created the Flood Decision Support Toolbox, an interactive web application that includes current conditions, forecast conditions, and scenario analysis using the USACE Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS).
