Thermal Release Request
The 2017 FFMP allocates 2,500 cfs-days to the Thermal Mitigation Bank. There are approximately 2,400 cfs-days remaining.
Today’s forecast for Hancock is partly sunny with an expected high of 91F. This is warmer than yesterday’s forecast of 90F yesterday. Yesterday’s forecast for today at Binghamton was 90F which has been updated to 94F also partly sunny. Due to the warmer than expected conditions, there may be a exceedance of 75F water temperature at Lordville today.
Tomorrow’s expected high air temperature in Hancock is 93F with sunny skies preceded by an overnight low of 68F. Binghamton’s forecast for Monday is 94F and sunny preceded by a low of 71F. The Hancock forecast for Tuesday is also warm, 90F and mostly sunny with a chance of showers.
The current Cannonsville release is 550 cfs due to yesterday’s request from the Thermal Release Bank.
The approximate debit from the thermal mitigation bank for this increase is about 200 cfs-days. It’s likely that another request will be made tomorrow to mitigate elevated water temperatures occurring on Tuesday.
Thank you for your continued assistance in implementing the thermal protection bank.
