Mississippi River Basin Science Dashboard

USGS scientists work closely with a wide variety of researchers, managers, and stakeholders across the Mississippi River Basin and Gulf of Mexico to study ongoing issues, identify solutions, and plan for the future.

The goal of this website is to consolidate USGS science about the Mississippi River Basin and the Gulf of Mexico into one place.

Mississippi River Science Forum

USGS hosted a Mississippi River Science Forum in February 2023. The Forum was requested by Congress in House Resolution 4202. USGS is summarizing the findings from the Forum in a report to Congress.

The forum, held on February 15-16, 2023, was focused on sharing current science, identifying data gaps and areas of concern, and prioritizing next steps related to goals of improving water quality, restoring habitat and natural systems, improving navigation, eliminating aquatic invasive species, and building local resilience to natural disasters. Presentations are available from the button below.
